1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Clue Town ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Service Description
Clue Town is an interactive location-based adventure experience. We provide:
- Online clue hunts in Stratford-upon-Avon and other locations
- Real-time multiplayer features and battle mode
- Memory maker challenges (photo/video)
- Local business perks and discount codes
- Digital certificates and awards
3. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when creating a team
- Use the Service in a safe and responsible manner
- Respect private property and local laws while playing
- Not share or distribute game content without permission
- Not attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or exploit the Service
- Not use the Service for commercial purposes without authorization
4. Payments and Refunds
Pricing
Hunt prices are displayed clearly before purchase. All prices are in GBP (£) unless otherwise stated. Prices include VAT at the current UK rate (20%). Wall Digital Ltd is VAT registered.
Payment
Payment is processed securely through Stripe. We do not store full card details. Promotional codes can be entered at checkout and may have usage limits, expiry dates, or route restrictions.
Refund Policy
- Before Starting: 100% refund if you haven't started the hunt
- After Starting: Refunds reviewed case-by-case (technical issues, force majeure)
- Completed Hunts: No refunds for completed games
- Request refunds within 14 days of purchase via our contact form
In accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015, your statutory rights are not affected. Digital content purchases have limited cancellation rights once the service has begun with your consent.
Gift Vouchers
- Gift vouchers are valid for 1 year from the date of purchase
- Vouchers are route-specific and cannot be exchanged for different routes
- If hunt prices increase, your voucher will still be honoured at the original price
- Gift vouchers are non-refundable once purchased
- Vouchers can be redeemed on the team setup page after clicking "Start Hunt"
5. Intellectual Property
Our Content
All content, including questions, maps, graphics, and software, is owned by Wall Digital Ltd or licensed to us. You may not:
- Copy, reproduce, or distribute our content
- Create derivative works based on our hunts
- Use our content for commercial purposes
Your Content
You retain ownership of photos and videos you upload. By uploading, you grant us a license to display them within the Service (your team's results page, and shared battle galleries if you participate in battle mode). We will not use your content for marketing without permission.
6. Location-Based Services
Clue Town uses location data to provide maps and directions. You acknowledge:
- Locations are approximate and for guidance only
- You are responsible for your own safety while navigating
- We are not liable for accidents, injuries, or property damage
- Some locations may have restricted access or hours
7. Third-Party Perks
Local business perks (discounts, offers) are provided by independent third parties. We:
- Are not responsible for the quality of third-party goods/services
- Do not guarantee perk availability or acceptance
- Are not liable for disputes between you and businesses
- May remove perks at any time
8. Battle Mode
Battle mode enables head-to-head competition between teams. If you host a battle:
- You are responsible for sharing the battle code with participating teams
- You may prepay for multiple team slots or let teams pay individually
- Prepaid slots are claimed first-come-first-served by joining teams
- You have access to host controls (break management, early battle ending)
- Photos uploaded during battle mode may be visible in a shared battle gallery to all participating teams
9. Content Sharing and Protection
To protect game integrity for future players, hunt answers are not visible when sharing results after 24 hours. You may share your score, certificate, and completion time at any time, but detailed answers are time-limited to prevent spoilers.
10. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
Service Availability
We strive for 99% uptime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not liable for:
- Temporary outages or maintenance
- Internet connectivity issues
- Device compatibility problems
- Data loss (though we implement backups)
Personal Safety
YOU USE THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK. We are not responsible for:
- Accidents, injuries, or illness while playing
- Theft or loss of personal property
- Interactions with third parties or businesses
- Weather conditions or environmental hazards
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the specific hunt. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.
11. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service if you:
- Violate these Terms and Conditions
- Engage in fraudulent activity
- Abuse or harass other users
- Attempt to compromise the Service's security
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify users of significant changes via email or website notice.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
14. Force Majeure
We are not liable for failure to perform due to circumstances beyond our control, including: natural disasters, government restrictions, pandemic, war, strikes, or technical failures.
